About Paul
Paul grew up in a small town in South Carolina where he learned early on that he could better explain what was going on in his head by making videos. This started Paul’s lifelong obsession with cameras and lighting.
Paul studied journalism at the University of South Carolina while also working at the student TV station, SGTV, which included running training programs and eventually becoming station manager. At the same time he produced a 2-hour talk show at the student radio station, WUSC, managed media content for the daily newspaper, The Daily Gamecock, and mentored peers and teachers in classes on new digital media technologies. Paul also balanced a full course load of classes and worked part-time as an on-air DJ at a local radio station and a Friday night sports photographer for a local TV news station.
This body of work landed Paul a job producing news in Greenville, SC, at WYFF News 4. He loved telling people’s stories this way, but he wanted to put more heart and time into some of the work. This passion drove him to move to Los Angeles to work as a freelancer in camera and lighting departments.
Paul has since worked on commercials, music videos, corporate interviews, feature films, tv shows, and web series. He is also an FAA part 107 certified drone pilot and is excited about the ways new technologies are allowing stories to be told, especially AR and 360 cameras.
More important than the technology and gear, though, is the story and emotion. Paul strives to find the right tools to tell meaningful stories that have an impact on others.
